PCT2GETHER YOUTH PROGRAM
The Precinct2gether Youth Program held its Summer Showcase Event on July 15th at North Shore Middle School. A Youth Program tradition, this year's show was a “Tribute to the Past” in which the students performed a variety of songs from musical icons such as Elvis, The Beatles and Selena. From Bugle Boys to big hair and bell bottoms, the students took the audience on a journey through the decades with music. It was exciting to see one of our students perform a guitar solo in Selena’s Baila esta Cumbia. The Showcase ended with an incredible theatrical reenactment of Michael Jackson’s music video “Thriller”.

This year's performance was simply spectacular with so many talented young people involved from choreography to putting sets together, from costume making to learning lines. But most of all, the audience could tell they enjoyed being a part of it and for the audience, they were a joy to watch. Make plans to join in on the fun next year. Trust us, it gets better every year.
The Precinct2gether Youth Program Summer Program served 878 students at eight camp sites in East Harris County. Through grants, donations, corporate sponsorships and fundraisers we are able to provide services to families in the Cloverleaf, Galena Park, Crosby, McNair, Linus, Baytown, La Porte and Pasadena communities. Students participated in science projects, a space program, academic improvement projects, day trips and lots more. The program ended mid July.
Our Pct2gether staff is already preparing for our After-School Program scheduled to begin on September 13, 2010. Through both the After-School and Summer Programs, we serve over 1,200 youth and their families annually.
PRECINCT TWO PARK CERTIFIED FOR CONSERVATION & GREEN INITIATIVES
The Gene Green Beltway 8 Park has been recognized with official certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for achieving “green” standards set forth by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) System. Among the elements recognized are systems utilizing natural treatments to cleanse storm water and reduce artificial watering.
We worked from the initial design stages to make this park both an enjoyable site for families and a model to build in the future. The use of recycled products and energy-efficient materials requires extra effort, but it is well worth it in the long-run.
The Gene Green Beltway 8 Park is located at 6500 E. Sam Houston Parkway N. just North of Wallisville Road. It is open daily from 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.
BARRETT STATION HOMECOMING PARADE
